Perfectly ImperfectTheir relationship is, by no means, perfect.
It may look that way to other people what with Jackie especially pointing out that they seem to be in a constant honeymoon-phase and numerous of the biggest gossip magazines naming them as one of their 'couples of the year'.
And true, he and Rose do find it difficult to keep their hands off each other and, true, they may have been caught in compromising positions more than a few times... Oops. He blames his new human hormones for this. She says it is because she missed him so much. Which generally leads to a bit more snogging.
But that does not mean that everything in their shared life is perfect at all times.
There are arguments and fights, which ends with the two of them standing at opposite ends of the living room, yelling insults and scathing remarks at each other, both excelling at finding ways to hurt the other person. An Unusual Date NightA Ten/Rose human AU fic
It could have been a night like any other. James Smith had just settled in for a night of takeout, crappy movies and too much alcohol for his own good, when the phone started ringing. He reached for it and, when seeing who was calling him, groaned in frustration. He hit the screen of his phone hard and greeted the caller with barely concealed irritation, "I'm fine."
"I didn't even say anything," Donna's voice said, sounding a little offended.
"You didn't have to. For the past few days, you've been looking at me like I was just about to explode."
Donna sighed and James could imagine the look of pity on her face. "I'm just making sure you're not going to do anything stupid. You do sometimes run into stupid things."
"Oi! What kind of stupid things do you expect me to do? It's not as if the world is about to end. It's just one of my friends going on a date. Happens all the time. Millions of people are probably going on dates right now."

He hugs her a little tighter and breathes them out so quietly, he cannot even hear it himself. Feels her heart beating fast and strong in her chest, feels every inhale and exhale, her hands arms around his neck, all reminding him that she is here, so wonderfully, beautifully alive.
He strokes her cheek gently and the words echo in his mind with each beat of his hearts. Sees her eyes shine with happiness as she holds his hand and for a moment it is just the two of them together, enjoying one quiet, selfish moment where none of the Universe matters.
He kisses her so tenderly, his arms wrapped around her gently

They were nothing but good friends. Good friends who travelled through time and space, saving planets, going on brilliant adventures together. Nothing more than good friends who held hands constantly and hugged a lot. Good friends who, occasionally, snogged. And when he said occasionally, he meant often. Very often. At least six times an hour.
Okay, maybe they were more than just good friends.
But he was definitely not her boyfriend.
After all, they never really did what “normal” couples did. They never had a candlelit dinner on some posh restaurant. They never sat in the back row of the cinema making out while the movie played, causing the people sitting next to them to ‘get a room’ and they never called each other by ridiculous pet names.
What they did was saving various planets, causing revolutions against violent dictators, freeing slaves and saving people from a variety of monsters. Their dinner
